Many women have pockets of stubborn fat that they can’t seem to get rid of with diet and exercise. But this isn’t just a problem for women. Some men also suffer from fat deposits in various areas of the body. No matter how much they diet and work out, they also can’t seem to get rid of those stubborn pockets of fat. Men will be happy to know they can also use Coolsculpting to help look leaner and fitter.

But what is CoolSculpting for men, and how can it benefit men’s bodies?

What Is CoolSculpting?

Coolsculpting, also known as cryolipolysis, is a process developed in 2005 for removing pockets of fat from specific body parts. In 2010, the process was approved by the FDA. The FDA approves the following body parts for treatment:

● Abdomen
● Bra fat
● Back fat
● Banana roll
● Flanks
● Thighs
● Upper arms

Coolsculpting is a non-invasive procedure in which a doctor uses a special wand in specific areas of the body to freeze those areas. For instance, if the abdomen is the target area, the doctor will place the device in that area for a designated amount of time to freeze the fat cells. The temperature of the wand is cool enough to destroy the fat cells but warm enough to avoid damaging muscles, skin, or organs in the way that frostbite would.

How Does the Procedure Work?

The way the cryolipolysis process works is that a patient will see a specialist for the initial consultation and discuss goals for removing body fat. Then, the practitioner will inform the patient of the areas they are approved to treat and recommend the number of treatments necessary to achieve desired results.

Once the patient decides to complete the procedure, one session could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The doctor will freeze the designated areas on the patient’s body. The fat cells that die from the freezing process will take a few weeks to exit the body. Then, after about one to three months, the patient should see results.

Unlike invasive procedures, patients won’t have to worry about downtime. Once a practitioner completes the process, the patient can return to regular daily activities. However, avoiding strenuous activities, including exercising about 48 hours after the procedure, would be best.

Coolsculpting should remove 10 to 25 percent of fat from the targeted area. The patient could get one to three treatments in the same area to eliminate stubborn fat from designated areas for a trimmer appearance. CoolSculpting may cost, on average, between $2,000 and $4,000 per treatment and is a procedure that isn’t covered by insurance.

Ways that CoolSculpting Benefits Men

Coolsculpting is designed to treat problem areas approved for treatment by the FDA. But men tend to get Coolsculpting to help with tummy fat and love handles. They also use the treatment to have more defined pectoral muscles and a much firmer “six pack.”

Men who want this procedure are typically in relatively good shape but struggle with fat deposits in areas that diet and exercise can’t seem to correct.

Common Questions About CoolSculpting

Are you considering Coolsculpting to help battle the bulge? Here are answers to common questions about this procedure.

Is CoolSculpting a permanent procedure?

The fat cells ejected from the body as a result of the procedure are permanently gone. However, these fat cells can come back. So, it is a good idea to maintain a healthy diet and exercise after the procedure for long-lasting results. Keep in mind that this treatment is not for obesity.

Are there age limits for this procedure?

Yes. Typically, most patients should be 18 years old or older to get this procedure and should qualify as a candidate for the procedure, particularly those with belly fat and chin fat.

Are there risks with getting Coolsculpting?

There are a few minor risks. In terms of pain or discomfort, this is minimal. You may feel such pain during the procedure from cold sensations as the practitioner treats trouble spots. But other than this, you shouldn’t have any trouble with the procedure. If you suffer from paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, ryoglobulinaemia, or cold agglutinin disease, you shouldn’t get cryolipolysis.
