We are well into the New Year, so you know what that means— for many of us, we’ve been trying to get rid of stubborn fat with a healthy diet and regular exercise and it doesn’t seem to be working.

Noninvasive fat reduction procedures such as CoolSculpting may be an option to consider for several reasons.

Let’s face it, we all had to indulge in the holidays at least a little, so don’t blame yourself. Like most, a resolution to improve our diet and exercise more was on the list. Despite your efforts, some of the fat has been stubborn and won’t go away. If there’s one thing every person can relate to, is having a little fat you don’t like.

The difference is: how do you get rid of it? There are several options of course; working out, dieting, and even some surgical procedures. While some surgical procedures might be required for health reasons, keep in mind the risks that you may be taking when they are not. Also, keep in mind that there are nonsurgical fat removal procedures available that might be right for you.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is one of the most common, invasive, fat removal procedures. The process involves going under a general anesthesia and receiving an incision, so that fat can be removed from the body.

This procedure is an inpatient procedure and requires you to be monitored for several hours after. The incision is stitched, and the healing time can be up to two weeks.

What are the risks?

Although liposuction is a quick solution for problem fat areas that don’t seem to go away with diet or exercise, this method of fat removal is a risky one.

Anything that involves anesthesia, a literal open wound in the body, and an overnight stay, is going to come with more than just one risk.

After surgery you can expect to have: pain, swelling, bruising, soreness, and even numbness. More serious risks include: complications with the anesthesia, damage to other structures (nerves, tissue, organs, etc)., deep vein thrombosis, infection, persistent swelling, poor wound healing, thermal burn or heat injury, among many others.

Are there other options?

Just because you’ve heard of liposuction most frequently, it does not mean that it is the safest or best option. There are other non-invasive fat removal techniques that are highly advertised, specifically because they are non-invasive.

One such process is CoolSculpting. This science-based method is more formally known as cryolipolysis, which literally means fat freezing.

With this process you will never go under a knife. At a certain temperature all fat freezes. Once the cells freeze, the body naturally eliminates dead cells within 1 to 3 months, resulting in a 20 to 25% fat reduction.

There are little to no side effects, no permanent marks; you could even do it on your lunch break.

What are the benefits?

There are several benefits to CoolSculpting, but the first one is that you can reach almost any area of the body with it— even the double chin under the neck, under the buttocks, and the male chest.

The results of CoolSculpting are also natural-looking, FDA-cleared, and given only by licensed medical professionals.

Treatment is fast and can be done in as little as 35 minutes. You don’t have to ‘recover’ either, you can go right back to work, or to your regular activities.

Lastly, CoolSculpting treatment is completely personalized. The number of treatments, length of time, etc. all depends on you and what you are trying to achieve. That sounds much better than going under the knife doesn’t it?
