How Does It Work?
The Fibroblast procedure uses a plasma pen device with a tiny needle to transmit heat to superficial levels of the skin in a grid-like pattern. Arcs of plasma are delivered to the area of the skin with an electrical discharge. This discharge singes the surface of the skin tightening the tissue underneath.
The electrical discharge administered to the treated area creates micro craters on the surface of the skin, healing in the form of tiny dots. After 7 to 10 days the scabs from the dots will fall off, leaving behind new pink skin which will fade over time. These dots typically disappear within the first two months after procedure but depend and vary from each individual.
The Procedure
Similar to other cosmetic procedures, Fibroblast Skin Tightening treatment area should be clean and without make-up. Numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area if desired. Once numb, after 30 minutes, the plasma pen is directed by a professional. Throughout the procedure you may feel some heat, which can cause some discomfort. The procedure time varies between 30-60 minutes, which of course depends on the size of the area being treated.
After the procedure, cooling gel is applied to the treatment area and you will be provided with instructions on how to take care of the treated skin.
When Will I See Results?
Even though results are immediate the best results occur after three weeks of treatment and final results are usually seen after 8 weeks. Any additional treatments should not take place before 6 weeks-8 weeks of the last treatment. If needed, ask your skin technician for how long you should wait till your next treatment.
How Long Does It Last?
Results from the procedure are permanent, however, it cannot stop any natural skin aging. Lasting results are supported by implementing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Side Effects
As the skin is treated by singing the skin, tiny carbon crusts in the shape of polka dots will form in the affected area that typically last around 7-10 days. Some swelling may occur as well. Any serious side effects can be avoided if you follow the provided aftercare instructions.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
Additional treatments can be done to reach maximum results. However, the quantity of treatments needed vary depending on the area being treated. The skin’s ability to cooperate (laxity) and the desired results will affect the number of treatments as well.
Is It Safe?
Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a low risk noninvasive procedure. Possibilities of burning the skin may occur if the plasma is delivered to an area for an extended period of time or if it’s administered further than needed into the underlying tissues. Besides any minor side effects, the treatment is safe when completed by a certified skin therapist.
